Title: Coherent radiation studies of atomic molecules in strong laser fields

Speaker: Xiaowei Wang, Associate Professor

Report time: 15th April 14:00

Tencent Conference Number: 199-758-102

Meeting moderator:Associate Professor Lv Hang, Institute of Atomic and Molecular Physics, Jilin University

Abstract

Atomic molecules in an intense laser field produce ultra-broadband coherent radiation covering terahertz, visible, extreme ultraviolet and even soft X-rays due to extreme non-linear interactions on timescales spanning picosecond, femtosecond and even attosecond. Combined with multiscale pump-probe technology, this makes it possible to detect and manipulate matter with ultra-high precision at optical field periods and even subperiods, promising to open up a new revolution in the fields of atomic molecules and photophysics, chemistry and biology. This presentation will briefly introduce the current development of research on coherent radiation of atomic molecules under strong laser fields in the context of the construction of the Multi-Time Scale Coherent Light Source at the National University of Defense Technology (NUDT), and in particular the progress of research on attosecond physics at NUDT.

Introduction:

Xiaowei Wang is an Associate Professor in the Department of Physics, College of Arts and Sciences, National University of Defense Technology. He graduated from the University of Defense Technology with a bachelor's degree in applied physics in 2007 and has worked on master's and PhD projects at the University of Defense Technology and the Center for Optics at the University of Central Florida. Since 2013, he has been working in the Department of Physics of the National University of Defense Technology, mainly engaged in the research of attosecond science and technology, specifically in the areas of ultrashort femtosecond laser pulse generation, high harmonic phase matching, single attosecond pulse generation and attosecond transient spectroscopy. He is in charge of the National Natural Science Foundation of China and the National Defense Science and Technology Innovation Special Zone Project, and has published more than 10 papers.
